About Nicole van Rooijen
Nicole van Rooijen is the Executive Director of Stop Killer Robots. She is responsible for the overall strategic and operational management of the campaign.
Prior to joining the team in January 2025, Nicole worked at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on the protection of civilians in times of armed conflict and violence.
She has worked in Côte d’Ivoire, Colombia, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Gaza and Jordan, before coming to Geneva. Through her field experience, she has gained a deep understanding of the human cost of war and the urgent need for stronger adherence to international laws, as well as the development of new legal frameworks to keep pace with technological advancements in military and law enforcement operations.
Nicole holds two masters degrees in International Politics and Human Geography.
Nicole is based in Geneva, Switzerland
