About John Adler
John Adler joined the NYC Comptroller’s Office, which is investment advisor for the five New York City retirement systems totaling over $290 billion in assets, as Chief ESG Officer in the Bureau of Asset Management (BAM) in 2022. He manages corporate governance; Economically Targeted Investments; Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; climate change; workers’ rights; and integration of ESG in the investment process.
Prior to BAM, Adler served 7 years as Director of the NYC Mayor’s Office of Pensions and Investments and spent the previous 23 years in the labor movement.
