About Session

State and local pension funds in the United States collectively hold more than $5 trillion in assets. As climate change accelerates and social inequities deepen, the world’s largest institutional investors find themselves at a critical inflection point. While Republican Treasurers and State Financial Officers have been in the news for their efforts to penalize asset managers for considering climate risks in investment decisions, today we are seeing an increasing number of state and city pensions making effective climate stewardship a key factor in their selection and evaluation of asset managers.
This session features pension fund panelists discussing practical tools for evaluating and improving asset manager ESG stewardship and sharing insights on overcoming implementation challenges and political obstacles.
