About Session

In the first eight months of his second presidency, President Trump has signed 198 executive orders many of which are considered unlawful. In response to these executive actions, 391 lawsuits, not including appeals, have been filed. These executive orders have already had a devastating impact on health (e.g., withdrawal from the WHO, practical elimination of USAID, reduction in funding to NIH, jobs cuts to federal health agencies -HSS, FDA, CDC, disrupting an already fragile public health infrastructure; severely limiting access to gender affirming care; establishing MAHA, which arguably could be helpful if enforcement measures were implemented but currently lacks overall direction and credible oversight, etc.). In July, we witnessed signing into law of One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBRA), which narrowly passed in the House and Senate. This law will have catastrophic impacts across Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), food nutrition programs, among others. The purpose of this session will be to highlight the immediate and long-term impacts on the US public health infrastructure, health care delivery systems and in turn, impact on people, and why investors should be concerned.
