About Session

As powerful actors around the world increasingly promote narratives that normalize irresponsible business conduct and enable corporations to cause devastating harm to people and the planet with impunity, we must bolster our own narrative and adapt the way we talk about human rights and corporate accountability to our current political reality. The Global Initiative for Corporate Accountability (GICA), in collaboration with Hope-Based Communications, developed a global messaging guide to support advocates in calling for corporate accountability and provide new tactics and inspiration to strengthen advocacy in the face of these challenges. In this session, we will outline the principles of the guide and present the findings from GICA’s research on what messages resonate and don’t resonate in communications surrounding corporate accountability. We will then provide an opportunity for individuals to adapt the principles of the guide to their own work in corporate accountability.
